Yoichi Isagi was just moments away from scoring a goal that could have propelled his high school soccer team to the nationals, but a quick decision to pass the ball to a teammate changed everything. Feeling bitter, confused, and let down, Isagi can't help but wonder if the outcome would have been different had he taken the shot himself. Upon returning home, he finds an invitation from the Japan Football Union waiting for him. Due to a seemingly arbitrary selection process, Isagi is one of three hundred U-18 strikers chosen for a controversial initiative called Blue Lock. The aim of the project is to develop one of these players into the star striker for the Japanese national team. To determine the best candidate, each player must compete in various solo and team challenges to prove their worth. Despite his moral reservations about the project, Isagi feels a strong urge to fight for his place at the top, even if it means shattering the dreams of 299 other young strikers.
